Old-Fashioned Soap. Clean Ingredients. Seriously Clean Skin.
Soap does not need to be complicated.
At Amish Basics, we believe a good bar should do what soap has always been meant to do: wash away dirt, oil, sweat, and everyday buildup while leaving your skin feeling clean and comfortable.
That thinking is behind our Detox Mineral Bar Soap, a traditional-style face and body soap made with Calcium Bentonite Clay, Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, and a straightforward approach to ingredients.
No elaborate routine. No overpowering fragrance. No need to make everyday cleansing more complicated than it needs to be.
Just a hardworking bar made to be used from head to toe.
The Soap That Started Amish Basics
The story of Amish Basics actually begins with soap.
Our original bar was inspired by a traditional Amish-style soap recipe and the practical philosophy behind it: start with good ingredients, use only what is needed, and make something that works.
That simple approach became more than a recipe. It became the foundation for the entire Amish Basics brand.
As we expanded into clay masks and other skin essentials, we kept coming back to the same idea.
Good ingredients. Purposeful formulas. Nothing unnecessary.
It is also where the name Amish Basics comes from.
We are not an Amish-owned company, and our products are not made by the Amish. The name reflects the traditional soap recipe that started us down this path and the back-to-basics philosophy that continues to guide what we make today.
What Makes a Mineral Soap Different?
The ingredient that sets this bar apart is Calcium Bentonite Clay.
Bentonite is a naturally occurring mineral clay known for its absorbent properties. In a cleansing bar, it complements the soap by helping pick up excess oil and surface buildup as you wash.
Our Calcium Bentonite Clay comes directly from deposits in California's Mojave Desert, where it is mined and refined by our own operation.
We do not simply purchase finished clay from an ingredient broker.
We control the source.
That means we know where our clay begins, how it is processed, and what goes into every batch before it becomes part of Amish Basics.
For a brand built around simple ingredients, knowing the source matters.
Why These Ingredients?
Every ingredient in our soap has a job to do.
Calcium Bentonite Clay
Our mineral-rich clay adds natural absorbency to the bar, helping wash away excess oil, dirt, and surface buildup.
It gives an everyday cleansing bar a little extra cleaning power without turning it into a complicated skincare treatment.
Shea Butter
Shea Butter is valued in skincare for the soft, conditioned feel it can leave behind.
In our mineral bar, it helps balance that deep-clean feeling so skin feels comfortable after washing.
Coconut Oil
Coconut Oil plays an important role in traditional soapmaking and helps create the rich, satisfying lather people expect from a good bar of soap.
It contributes to a thorough cleanse while helping give the finished bar its smooth, substantial feel.
Together, these ingredients create something straightforward: a hardworking mineral soap designed for everyday use.
Why We Still Believe in Bar Soap
There is something refreshingly simple about a bar of soap.
Wet it. Lather it. Wash. Rinse.
That's it.
A good bar does not require a pump, a complicated application method, or another step in your skincare routine.
And because our Detox Mineral Bar Soap can be used on your face, hands, body, and feet, one bar can handle a lot of everyday cleansing.
That versatility is part of the appeal.
Keep one in the shower. Keep another by the sink. Use the same straightforward product wherever you need a good clean.
Fragrance-Free by Choice
Not everything needs to smell like something.
Our Detox Mineral Bar Soap is fragrance-free, which makes it a simple option for people who prefer their everyday skincare without added scent.
We would rather let the ingredients do their jobs than add fragrance just because it is expected.
That is part of what "back to basics" means to us.
If an ingredient does not need to be there, we ask why it should be.
More Soap. Less Fuss.
Each package contains five full-size 5 oz bars, for 25 oz of soap total.
That is enough to spread around.
Put one in the shower. Keep one at the bathroom sink. Add one to the guest bath. Save a few for later.
And because a bar lasts longer when it is allowed to dry between uses, a simple draining soap dish can help you get more life from each one.
No complicated storage instructions required.
Just keep it out of standing water and let it dry between washes.
Face, Body, Hands, Feet
One of the things we like most about this bar is how uncomplicated it is.
Use it for:
Face
Work the bar into a lather with your hands and gently cleanse the skin, avoiding the eye area.
Body
Use it directly or with a washcloth or body sponge for an everyday shower cleanse.
Hands
A substantial bar that works just as well by the sink as it does in the shower.
Feet
Use it to wash away sweat, dirt, and everyday buildup from hardworking feet.
If your skin tends to be dry or sensitive, start slowly and adjust how often you use it based on how your skin responds.
Clay and Soap: A Natural Pair
If you already use our Dutch Healing Clay as a weekly facial or body mask, the Detox Mineral Bar Soap fits naturally into the same routine.
Think of the soap as your everyday clean.
Think of the clay mask as the deeper occasional treatment.
Both start with the same philosophy and the same California-mined Calcium Bentonite Clay.
One for every day.
One for when you want to go a little deeper.
Simple by Design
There will always be newer formulas, longer ingredient lists, and more complicated routines.
That's fine.
We just don't believe complicated automatically means better.
Our Detox Mineral Bar Soap goes back to the idea that started Amish Basics in the first place:
Use good ingredients. Give each one a purpose. Leave out what doesn't need to be there.
Five generously sized bars. Mineral-rich clay. A traditional approach to soapmaking.
Sometimes getting back to basics is exactly what your skin needs.
